FloFax V.17 Fax SoftModem (V.17 Fax Modem Software)
Floreat’s V.17 software fax modem implements the ITU-T V.17 recommendation. It supports data rates of 14.4 Kbps with automatic fall back to slower connection rates of 12 Kbps, 9.6 Kbps, 7.2 Kbps so that it can still connect over noisy lines. The V.17 fax modem can be combined with other fall back fax modems V.29, V.27ter and V.21ch2 to support the lower speeds. The V.17 fax SoftModem may be combined with the FloFax V.34 datapump to support higher rates of 33.6 Kbps and with T.30E it can support the color fax.
The FloFax fax modem software is modular, re-locatable and reentrant to support multi-channel capability. The FloFax V.17 can operate within a multi-tasking environment or as a single task. The V.17 Group 3 fax modem software is supported on various DSPs and processors as well as offered in fixed and floating point C.
Floreat’s V.17 fax modem Software support most of the commercial analog front ends (AFE) as well as various discrete DAAs with codecs. The modem software also supports the digital environment such as T1/ E1 interfaces.
Floreat’s V.17 fax software can be controlled with Floreat’s T.30 fax protocol, which in turn may be controlled by the T.32 Class 2.0 commands or with Floreat’s T.31 Class 1 Commands. Class 1 and Class 2.0 Command Sets are extensions the ‘Hayes Modem Command Set’ and are EIA/TIA standards for the interface between computers and fax modems. The main difference between them pertains to the implementation of the protocols in software versus firmware.
The V.17 fax Modem software can be integrated with Floreat’s other data modem, telephony, speech compression, VoIP, FoIP, DSVD, imaging and video software for various applications.
